Tra Vinh, August 2022 – CMA CGM Vietnam takes its pride in planting 2,220 Rhizophora Apiculata mangrove trees or one hectare in Cau Ngang district of Tra Vinh province in August, 2022.

 

Doing business does not mean doing business only. This concept guides the company to pro – actively participate in a variety of social activities. Protecting the coastal environment is one of the best ways to give and return to the Earth. Although the RZ is planted into the available Sonneratia Caseolaris mangrove trees at Ban islet, this will help bind the soil considerably and decrease the diseases.

 

RZ mangrove trees has lots of environmental economic benefits. However, at this point, the local government is calling for planting more RZ trees to Ban islet to make it firmer, and steady. And in five or ten years later the trees will grow and absorb more carbon dioxide than the other mangrove species. Thus, growing them is a must.

 

CMA CGM VN raised the public awareness about the Rhizophoracaea by launching the learning page in July 2022. It reached the target of minimum 200 participants.

The team also enjoyed the community engagement when about 30 staff planted over 200 RZ mangrove trees along the My Long Nam’s coastal line in August 2022. At this event, the importance of the RZ trees was featured by a female student at grade 1, who told the audience the Rhizophora Apiculata story.

 

CMA CGM VN will regularly monitor one hectare of RZ trees in the next three years and hand over to the local Forestry sub – department for further tending services.
