Tra Vinh, September 2024 – Hyosung Advanced Materials has launched a conservation project to plant 0,6 hectare of Intsia Bijuga in Dan Thanh Commune, Duyen Hai Town, Tra Vinh Province.
The Intsia Bijuga, or its trade name of Merbau, is classified by the IUCN as an endangered species. This project aims to enhance biodiversity and the population of the species, while also strengthening the mangrove ecosystem to address climate change.
The benefits of the project not only support the habitat of flora and fauna but also create job opportunities, improve income, and enhance the quality of life for the local community
Project summary:
Hyosung Advanced Materials is funding the planting of 1,000 Intsia Bijuga mangrove trees from 2024 to 2033 (10 years: 1 year for planting, 9 years for caretaking).
Throughout the project cycle, MangLub Vietnam, authorized by Hyosung Advanced Materials, will be responsible for planting and maintaining the trees to ensure that survival rates meet the requirements. The project will be handed over to the local government by the end of 2033 or early 2034, with a minimum survival rate of 80%.
