Mangrove forests are recognized one of the most important ecosystems in protecting coastline from natural disasters, playing the role of the nurseries for juvenile fish, shelters for other species, as well as economic resources for many local communities. In Vietnam specifically, mangrove forests have been recently recognized by the government, experts, and our community. However, that realization is just the background for the long journey ahead.

In this lesson, we start learning about Sonneratia Caseolaris, a very popular mangrove tree. It has another famous name as a “pioneer mangrove tree”, which tells us the difference between it and other kinds of mangroves such as Rhizophora, Avicennia, etc… Let’s get started!
