Threats to the Sonneratia Caselaoris

Nền-lá.png

In spite of its benefits, the SC specifically and the mangroves generally is facing a decrease at an alarming speed.

The reasons are named below:

  • The world population has been increasing, which causes a stress on living space.

  • Economic benefits from transfering mangrove forests to artifical shrimp ponds, or other aquaculture things. Chemical fertilizers from shrimp farming spoil the land and water.

  • Other economic benefits such as wood & fruit exploitation are for other productions.
